I've had the Y50 4K Touch for about a month and everything has been working just great - until today when I opened it up to find the the multi-touch feature no longer working. When I go to PC Info it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display". This used to say something about how 10 point multi-touch was supported.

I've restarted. No luck. I checked the Human Interface Devices to attempt update the multi-touch driver but none is listed.

Any input* is greatly appreciated, thank you!

skit: USB cable? Clear or with them all being used, makes no difference. What do you mean "check" it? The screen on my laptop is not plugged in with a USB... but I did the power management idea anyway with no success.

Entomber: I will as a last ditch effort. I'm hoping to get it up and running myself with some help here.

it's possible that if you open up your laptop and try to repair the problem yourself, you will void your warranty. My suggestion would be to contact Lenovo, since what you describe does not seem like any user error, but a part malfunction, whether it be the connection inside the laptop got loose or the part simply stopped working.

I had a very similar problem. The touch screen just stopped working one day, and when I tried to check the HIDs in device manager to see what was wrong or try to update their drivers, there weren’t any devices listed under HID. (This is why I think we had the same problem--the computer doesn't recognize that it's connected to any touch screen). The problem ended up being with the USB host controller. It somehow, for some reason, was disabled, and without the USB host controller, none of the devices connecting through USB could communicate with the computer. (***NOTE: this doesn't mean you’re actually plugging the screen in with an external cable or anything, USB is just referring to the communication protocol and connection mechanism your screen has to the computer—USB connections can be internal. If the controller that manages those connections is shut down, then none of the devices can communicate with the computer). In effect, the computer couldn't even see that there was a touch screen connected to it.

Check the universal serial bus controllers in device manager. See if the USB host controller is enabled. If it is enabled, it could be a problem with its driver, so you should reinstall it. If it’s not enabled, then you should enable it so that all the USB devices, including the touch screen, can be recognized and interface with your computer. Also, if you enable the USB host controller, a bunch of new usb controllers should now appear in the device manager. If the screen still doesn’t work after enabling the host controller, then one of these usb controllers could potentially be causing a problem, so you can check the drivers for those as well (these other usb controllers don’t seem likely to be the problem, but, eh…)

This fixed my touch screen problem right away, but if it’s not up and running for you, HIDs should at least now show up on the device manager list. At this point, if something is still malfunctioning, you can try updating the drivers for the HIDs now that they’re connected. If the USB host controller is enabled and it's driver is installed, but it still doesn't connect to the sreen, then it's possible that there's a physical disconnection (torn ribbon, cracked solder, etc.--unlikely unless you've been messing around internally, but possible).

Hopefully you had the same problem and this helps you fix it!
