Hey Guys

i'm stuck between GS60 2PE Ghost Pro and Lenovo Y5070 . ok here goes the questions :

1.Do any of them have 1366x768 ( HD ) version ? i dont wanna get their FHD or 4K version . its too much for a laptop . for example Y510P had 1366 version and i loved it .

2.Is GS60 2PE running much hotter than Lenovo Y5070 due to its slimmer design ? If yes then that means ill melt MSI by running games on ultra ? i mean come on . their designers knew its gonna run hot and they made it for gaming purposes

3.When will they update their GTX 8xx to 9xx ?

4.Lenovo has weaker graphic than MSI . just one model down . if i can't afford MSI am i losing lots of FPS ? its a matter of GTX 860 vs GTX 870 ( notebook version :D )

5.If i get 1920x1080 or 4K laptop and turn the resolution down to 1366x768 will it look and perform exactly like a 1366x768 laptop ???

guys please answer all questions . i wanna buy one soon and just wanna make informed decision

Solution
Ok to answer you questions:

1. I don't know if any of them have a hd version
2. Yes the msi is very loud and hot due to its slim design. Lenovo has the advantage here
3. I don't know when the gpu will be updated next.
4. Yes the gpu performance of the 870m is far greater than the gtx 860m
5. It should perform the same as getting a hd screen if you turn down the graphics. Also to let you know, no laptop can play games at ultra at 4k. Most desktops struggle with this.

Oh Man . Damn . So how come its both gaming and slim ? i mean designers didn't know what the hell are they making ? i was thinking that maybe mobile hardware are capable of tolerating the heat and the gaming label makes you think it wont melt under that heat .

ok how about rest of the questions :D ?

As for framerates, here's a list:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphics-Cards.13849.0.html

Scroll down the page

The 870m is in position 32 on the list
The 860m is in position 51 on the list

It shows the fps of each GPU for 23 different games (scroll right)

"So how come its both gaming and slim ?"

Because that's the hot thing these days. The lighter and thinner the better, even though it isn't easy (or even smart IMHO) to do in a high-powered laptop because of the heating issues.

Question: Are you going to be carrying this thing all over on a regular basis, or will it mostly sit in one spot?

P.S. I've never personally seen or heard of a recent msi gaming laptop with a 1366x768 display resolution. Don't know about Lenovo.

ok but if i get 4k or 1920x1080 , and i turn down the resolution to 1366x768 . will it look and perform ( fps wise ) exactly like a 1366x768 laptop ( a laptop that has max native res of 1366x768 ) ?

Laptop with native res of 1920x1080 ( turned down to 1366x768 ) vs Laptop with native res of 1366x768 . any difference ?

Well, there's definitely no point in the 4k. It is my understanding that when gaming, and you run the display at any other resolution than it's native resolution, you do take a hit in fps. But I think it is a minor difference and likely not worth worrying about too much. As you are lowering the resolution, the fps will go up substantially due to having to render less pixels. I don't have actual numbers at hand. But say if a screen with a native resolution of 1366x768 can run a certain game at 60fps, a 1920x1080 screen running at 1366x768 may only be able to run the game at say 55fps. Not a huge difference. It should look and perform the same otherwise to the best of my knowledge.

P.S. You didn't answer MY question from my previous reply.

thanks alot man ;) . i always wonder . why devs keep making bigger screens with bigger resolutions even for incapable devices like laptops when Hardwares are not quite ready to handle them . i wanted to pick each of those laps for my bro but i just changed my mind ( gonna go with Desktop ) Nothing can really beat desktop computers gaming Wise . but seriously implementing 4K in 15inch laptops is so Stupid
