Laptop for gaming and school

I`m looking for a laptop for school, light gaming, and maybe some music production. I`m not very good with laptops so I found this laptop on amazon. Its the HP 15- p030nr with Beats Audio. I saw that it had beats audio so i thought it might do something for music production. Any help is very appreciated. (Maximum budget of $1000 but that`s kinda pushing it)

The laptop you have is quite low end and is not very suitable for what you need. You will need quite a powerful cpu as music production is cpu intensive I think than gpu. Try looking for a laptop with an i5 m cpu at the very least with 8 gigs of ram and igpu. An i7 is recommended if you multi task a lot between different programs.

Have a look at xotic pc. They have a pretty good range of laptops but they tend to be more geared towards gaming than music production.

If they are not what you want have a look at either at the asus n series or one of the lenovo laptops as they do student discounts.

Been looking at some refurbished gaming laptops on ebay, would it be worth it to get 1 of those if it is higher end?

Yes it would, but most of the time it won't look perfect. You may have some scratches or other cosmetic problems.

I found a razor blade 14" 2013 version, would that be good because its thin and light for school. It also looks like it doesn't have a lot of scratches that are noticeable. Its $1079, is that good?
