HDMI connected to laptop and TV, directional antenna only-no cable, get no signal message

Connected laptop to TV with HDMI cable. Do not have cable TV, just flat directional antenna. When I go to HDMI source, get no signal. Older Toshiba laptop, older Samsung flatscreen.
