Hi All,

I am facing a popup and redirect issue whilst browsing at work on certain websites (airlines, real estate, news / genuine sites.) A new popup window opens up and redirect me to a random site (usually porn ending in .ru, but more recently facebook and paytm)

I thought the problem was with my computer, but I have scanned it with Norton Internet Security, Hitman Pro, TDSS Killer, Super Antispyware, Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, JRT and MSERT but nothing shows up. Whats more interesting is that if I connect to my home internet, there is no issue at all.

I checked the router and thought maybe its a DNS virus, but my router uses dynamic dns, remote management is turned off and the default password has also been changed. I have even reset it to factory settings but the problem persists.

What I noticed today was that when I visit certain websites, in addition to the website's data, the browser downloads additional data from other random/unknown sites, then when I click something on the page, the popup and redirect issues start.

Please advise

Well, first off, I don't know if you've done it but check for unfamiliar programmers installed from the Control Panel. If you find any it might really be a virus. Otherwise, I am afraid I am not much help here.

Thank you for the reply, but I finally managed to figure out the problem. The router was using the wrong dns even after setting it to dynamic. For some reason it was picking up a dns no longer in use by the isp.

Oh, it's good you've managed to figure it out. It's even better you posted the solution so others can see what their problems could be. You know, since I am getting random pop-ups in German from time to time I might check out my router as well. Have a good day.
