Hi,
I have HP Compaq Presario V3700 V3908TU. Battery was lost on accident 4 years ago. Since that I used power directly from adapter.

Last night I turn on my laptop. But windows won't start. It stops right before win logo shown up like usually. I notice that the LED power indicator blink constantly. No beeping. I can hear my hardisk still running.

Tried to ctrl+alt+del and alt+f4 (to restart) doesn't work. I can't enter BIOS setup and recovery mode. Just like my keyboard doesn't work too. I just try to reinstall my win, but loader didn't shown.

I used this laptop for 9 years and never have issues with hardware. Hope you guys can help or explain what happen with this badass.

Hello arie_w

I was wondering if you tried inserting a Windows 7 bootable installation disc in the DVD drive and tried booting the computer with it?

Since the computer starts and the LED indicator shows hard disk drive activity, I assume that the hardware of your laptop is fine, and there is some issue with the system files of the operating system itself. If you can start your computer with a bootable disc, you can try restoring your computer to an earlier restore point, or repairing it using the normal repair method.

Let me know if this works. :)

Hello arie w and welcome to Toms!

There is a very simple thing that I do OFTEN, and it seems to work like a charm; I call it resetting CMOS (the quick way).

Step 1: Turn off your PC.
Step 2: Remove the power cable, and all other cables from the PC.
Step 3: Remove the battery if there is one.
Step 4: Hold down your power button for 30 seconds. (Yes, I know the PC won't turn on haha)
Step 5: After 30 seconds, plug just the power cable back in, and see if she turns on!

What this is doing is removing ALL power from your machine. It empties the capacitors, the CMOS battery, and the circuitry of any remaining power. Sometimes machines remember bad settings when the power down, and that makes them not want to start up correctly the next time. By removing all of the power from the system, the computer forgets its very temporary memory, and boots right up. Now this is NOT a solution for everyone, but it is easy and quick and fixes quite a few boot up issues. Try it and see if it works for you!

thanks!
