Pioneer Amp remote set-up

I cannot set-up the remote for my VSX-528 Pioneer Amp to recognise my Panasonic smart TV so it can control basic TV functions like the manual says it can. Nothing happens when I press 'Receiver" button with number 1 button. Am I doing something wrong?

Press and hold the white Receiver button (the one below the orange button) then press and hold the 1. hold both down for 4 seconds.
Next press the Input button thats is below the TV Control button
Input your 4 digit TV code that you should already have looked up and if it is the correct code then the tv will either turn on or turn off.
- if its not the right code, press the Input button again and enter another code.
When you've got the right code, press the Receiver button to exit the setup

Thanks for that, I am at work now but will try again when I get home. I did try what you have suggested but I cannot see any response on the Amp display. i.e. by pressing 'Receiver' and the No 1 buttons simultaneously and then the input button I do not see any prompts on the display to show the four digits I am entering is registering. Anyhow, I will give it another go.

Sorry, tried doing exactly what you said but no response. Nothing happens when I press the buttons. Should I see any indication on the display on the Amp? I get a feeling there is something wrong with the remote although other functions work when I press the receiver button. If anyone has any idea would appreciate it. Thanks
