I'm attempting to figure out how exactly to reinstall windows 7 Professional on my HP laptop. I replaced the hard drive and have no access to whatever information was on there.

Originally the laptop I bought was refurbished and it already had Windows 7 Pro on it. I have the 25 digit product key next to the COA sticker on the laptop.

I also have an "Operating System DVD Windows 7 Professional" disk. On this disk it says that it "Contains software and drivers already installed. For software reinstallation and repair only"

I inserted the disk and attempted to boot the computer from it, but it wouldn't recognize, but I'm not even sure if this disk is correct. In any case, the boot start up screen (after I clicked f9 on startup) never provided me an option to boot from the CD/DVD drive. I confirmed that it was activated on start up in the bios settings.

How do I re-install?

Figured it out on my own. CD/DVD drive was listed under Legacy boot. I had to uncheck UEFI boot in order to boot from Legacy, and since I put CD/DVD on priority in Legacy, it started up perfectly.
