A few years ago I dedided to buy a HT system. To be more precise, this one, the Samsung HT-E6500. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-R9RiNcD6IAL/p_305HTE6500/Samsung-HT-E6500W.html

Now, I want to slowly replace the entire set since a good amp is rather expensive, I thought Id start with the front speakers. This speaker caught my my eye: http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-NS-555-3-Way-Reflex-Speaker/dp/B0000W4U22

The front channels on my samsung HT each are 165 Watt so that should be able to power it? (speakers are 100 Watt nominal).
The problem is that I looked into the manual and my amp works on 3 ohm, so to power 6 ohm speakers sounds like a lot of work for the fella. Basically, what I want to know is, will this work.

Solution
The power rating on HTiBs are pretty much made up so it is hard to really know how much power it has. It will be safe to try it but bring the volume up slowly and if you hear some strain in the sound don't push it. You may have some issues getting the sub, center and rears to level match with the tower speakers. Will sound a lot better for sure but be prepared to move up to a surround receiver.

I very much doubt that little Samsung will be able to push a pair of proper hi-fi quality bass reflex speakers to any kind of listenable volume level.
That whole system is designed around low impedance ,low wattage satellites with the sub doing the work .

Thanks for the reply. I decided to wait a bit and get a bit more money and buy a new reciever with 2 tower speakers first and complete the set in the coming months.
