I have a typical (brand new HP desktop) connected to a large flat screen monitor. I also have a new HDMI TV next to me about the same size. Now, I have a Hauppauge external HVR.

The question is, can all of that become one item? Can I remove the flat screen monitor, connect the TV as a PC monitor and also add the Hauppauge. I could use WMC in a window and whatever other app running in another window?

Would it simply take 2 separate USB cables? One for the TV used as a monitor and the other for the external Hauppauge HVR? I do not have cable, I'm using a digital OTA antenna.

This is a small room and both 30 inch screens are not comfortable in here along with me. Putting it all together and giving my flat screen to my son is what I'd like to do.

I thank you for any information if this can be done.

You can't connect the DVR to the TV. If it has USB there are no drivers for the DVR. You can just connect the single display to your PC and use the DVR as it is connected to the PC. You can split the antenna so it connects to both the DVR and TV tuner so you would have more flexibility in what you record and watch at the same time.
I would maybe get a smaller monitor as your main display and use the TV as the 2nd display.
