Hello, I have a Lenovo G500, it's about 18months old, plugged my charger ( that came with the laptop when bought new) I've never had an issue, but plugged it in to charge and after 10 minutes there was a massive "crack", the laptop won't turn on. Have been out and bought a new charger thinking it was that ( the charger box smells fried but the laptop doesn't at all) but it won't charge? Tried this seceret button reset thing and still nothing :/ took the back of the laptop and no visible damage or smell - any advice please? TIA

Check you have power coming from the mains and it has not tripped anything to prevent this i.e... circuit breaker.
Have you tried it without the battery attached as the battery could be stopping it from booting due to being faulty

Sorry for late reply, I think we have a time difference!

The mains socket is fine, I tested a lamp in it just incase which worked when plugged in. I tried it without the battery in and just the other charger and no lights at all :/

My husband got his Electrical Screwdriver to test the other (not blown up) charger, and that works too.

On the Lenevo site it said about a reset which I tried with no luck, I have a horrendous feeling I've lost my laptop haven't I? :'(

I would have thought the charger couldn't do it due to Healthy & Safety / Testing etc but can it?
