The receiver I have my Xbox one connected to is the onkyo TX-SR607 this model receiver dose not have an in built fan. So what I'm wondering is how long can I safely run it before it gets to hot and damages it's self and is there any way to make a homemade calling device for it?

Solution
Your can probably run the receiver 24/7 at reasonable volumes. If the receiver overheats it will shut itself off before any damage and come back on again when the temperature comes down. If you can comfortably leave your hand on the top it is fine.
If you are running at high volumes you can add an external fan. Some even have thermal sensors so the fan comes on and goes off when needed. A computer fan can be used with wall wart power supply but might be noisy.

Audio receivers are made without a fan because they need to be quiet... It is annoying to hear a fan while listening to some chillout music i.e.
The idea is, do not put other equipment on top of your receiver, basically do not cover it so it has good airflow.

Ok thanks! Do you have any idea how long it would be safe to run at a period of time before the heat damages it?
