Toshiba touchpad is not working properly

,I got a brand new laptop less than 5 months , and it has been getting some issues with the touchpad recently. it doesnt work properly. when moving the finger to move the cursor, it recognises the scroll motion(vertical only) instead and to actually move the cursor i need to double tap and it only works for a few seconds.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satelite
L50-b-10v
with windows 8.1
can you guys help me? im a huge noob.

I wouldn't try to mess up with anything as your laptop is still under warranty. Contact Toshiba, they will fix it for you if it is a driver related issue. If it is a hardware related issue they will either fix it for you or send you a new laptop. Good luck

At this point it is either driver issue or the pad is defective. Go to Toshiba.com and download newest touchpad driver, if that does not work, get it warranty repaired.

When i got my laptop , i rarely used the touch pad , so i didn`t do any damage , if its the touchpad that is defective how long will it take to fix it?

It depends. if it is a driver issue it will take about 15 minutes. If it is a hardware issue you are probably going to be required to send the laptop to RMA. Again, you should contact Toshiba tech support, they will tell you exactly how they do things.
