Which of these two laptops is more suitable for school work?

Apart from the fact that you mention no system specs I'd say that it really doesn't matter, although I'd lean towards the Vaio since you'll probably need some Windows native applications for school. Screen estate, resolution and hardware specs shouldn't matter at all since it's usually undemanding workloads.
It depends on what schoolwork is. I am leaning towards the sony as most software schools use are windows based and the pro range is really for developers or image or video editors. If you can give a budget and the specs of the laptops of the two laptops above I can try and find a better deal and make a better comparison.
