Because they only test it for a couple of hours, not over several weeks like "real" users, and they may not even have used the WiFi on it. If they did, it may have worked fine for the short time they used it.

I've no idea, but reinstalling the driver might fix whatever the problem is. Positive reviews of that model here:

Personally, I'd never buy one that had no optical drive. It limits your system recovery & HDD testing options, as well as your data backup options.
That apart, I would never buy anything that had known problems I was already aware of unless I knew in advance there was a simple & proven fix for it.
