Hi!

So i just bought a new TV (lg 65lb730v) and i'm having problems getting a signal through my HDMI cable.

I can tell that the TV recognizes the cable because the HDMI 1 icon on the TV gets clear as i put in the cable in the computer. Still it gives me No signal?

I don't seem to be able to do anything on my computer ether. It doesn't seem to "connect" to the TV so i don't have any options.

I'm using windows 8 and i have ASUS Radeon R9 280X. I have used the HDMI cable before with the same computer but on a different TV and it worked.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

At first, you connect the HDMI cable and works fine but then it stops with the no signal thingy for no apparent reason. The only working solution I figured out is to follow these steps:
1. Disconnect your HDMI cable from your computer.
2. Get out of HDMI channel to any other TV channel.
3. Turn on your PC.
4. Plug in the HDMI cable to your PC.
5. Return back to the HDMI channel on your TV.
6. Enjoy!

Found this article when encountering the same problem. I've discovered that this problem is almost exclusive to some smart TVs (notably my Samsung and LG) and occurs under certain conditions such as:

- the tv is on standby and turned on before the device

- the computer is not connected to a specific HDMI, this seems to only happen with my LG however.

This error has caused many problems including having to restart the system during an update, which was the only option due to power outlets at the time being limited.

Usually switching ports or restarting the TV (turning it off and on) will fix the problem.

I'd suggest that anyone with the ability/space to do so should get a proper display for their PC, either a monitor or a standard TV.

How do you do that when you're not getting a signal and can't see what you're doing?

I tried every suggestion on this thread, and none worked to fix the problem. I was able to get my desktop to show up temporarily on my TV, but any time you click on an icon, open a menu, or open an application it cuts out immediately. I tried to change the resolution but that didn't seem to work either. My drivers are the newest drivers available. I have a Radeon R9 270 3GB.
