I have an old Samsung (NP-QX410-S02US) with a 650GB HDD. I want to breath some new life into it. I bumped up the RAM to 8GB. Now I want to try and replace the HDD with a 500 GB SSD. It looks simple enough (Ive done this before on Macs), the RAM and HDD are under a simple one screw cover on the bottom.
It's one of those bloatware loaded recovery drive systems. There is a small, hidden partition on the HDD and it contains the ability to reload the operating system (as well as a bunch of other junk).
The question I've got is this: do I just clone the whole thing with cloning software (I think the Samsung EVOs even come with cloning disks) The hidden partition will clone as well? If not, then I should be able to install another OS, right?
I guess I'm doubtful this would work, else why not make numerous copies of this OS with that key?
Thanks in advance for your input
