First of all I am not very savvy about any of this. My cable tv is hooked up to my speakers through the hdmi1 port on my tv and hooked up to the receiver and speakers and works perfectly. I just bought a mygica streaming player and hooked it up to hdmi3 and it all works except it only plays through the tv speakers. How do I get it to play through the speakers. Do I need something like a switch or a splitter.

Just to be clear. You have your cable box connected to the TV into HDMI1 and the audio output of the TV is connected to the receiver (which doesn't have HDMI inputs).
Try connecting the player to HDMI1.
If you get sound from the receiver/speakers then maybe only this input will feed thru. Check the TV menu and see if there is any setting for this.
If it doesn't work check the audio menu in the player (it may be putting out audio that is not compatible so play with some of the settings).
If that doesn't help then you can add an HDMI input selector and connect both to it and it to HDMI1 or an HDMI audio extractor that will give you a digital audio output from the HDMI output of the player that you would connect directly to the receiver

The player has analog audio outputs so you can connect that directly to the receiver but this will not be the same quality..
