AMD vs Intel

To be quite frank, I'm not sure what either really do if I'm correct it's the processor of the computer . I'm trying to figure out what would be better for playing games like the Sims 4 and 3.

AMD = more cores but less powerfull and use more of power and generates more of heat.
Intel = lesser cores but more powerfull cores, use less power and generate less heat.

Games tend to want less cores but more powerfull core, giving intel an advantage here, but there are games out there that like many cores, just not so many.
