This is very frustrating and I have looked at every possible thread to fix this issue. I have a ASUS K56CM and I am trying to plug in the HDMI to a Denon AVR-1513. I am getting the video fine but I dont even see the option to set the sound ouput to HDMI. The playback devices doesnt have any other option but the laptop speakers. Is there anyone who can help me?
Solution
No HDMI Is video and Audio. When you go to sound (right click on speaker in taskbar. Play back devices when plugged in the HDMI device will show and just check it as the default or just click on the device that says HDMI usually your graphics card. HDMI replaced the old Red, Yellow and white cables where video and sounds were separate cables.

Laptop's HDMI is video only. You need to run a separate audio cable from the laptop's audio out jack to your Denon amp.
