Uninstall all add ons and extensions, reinstall the ESSENTIAL ones. Chrome and Firefox are speedy fresh out of the box, most often it is the overloading of poorly coded add ons /extensions that makes them slower. Stuff like extension defender are just extra weight.

Thanks! I just added Extension Defender today, did a scan with Windows Defender - I don't know what else to do - This is a brand new laptop. My previous laptop was not this slow, I only got a new one as the screen went out on that one. When that one is repaired, I may just go back to that one.

It's possible your previous laptop may have just been faster than your new one. Do you have the model numbers available for each?
