I have been looking for a new pair of headphones that are good for both music and gaming, and I think I have narrowed my choices down to two set: The Audio-Technica athM50s are great for music and offer a flat frequency response; the Hyper X is primarily a gaming headset, but has a detachable mic and also a flat frequency response. I also don't know which is more comfortable to wear. Please Advise.

Kingston? I'm confused as to why you believe headphones from a memory manufacturer will out perform an audio specific vendor? If you like bass you'll appreciate the M50s or Beyerdynamic DT770Pro. If you need a more accurate soundstage in gaming and/or prefer more detailed music you may like the Sennheiser HD 598 or Audio-Technica ATH-AD900X which are both open air headphones (allows you identify opponent locations easier). If you need to keep your cost down you may try the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x instead.

For mic's you can do on the headphone or on the monitor: AntLion ModMic, Blue Snowflake.
