OS Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate-64bit

PC is connected to TV with HDMI

PC does not detect TV

If TV is ON and HDMI connected, when booting, display appears on TV but not on monitor.

However only monitor appears on Display page in Control Panel.

If HDMI is not connected, at boot, my monitor appears normally.

TV (Samsung) does not appear on playback devices (sound) regardless of whether display is on TV or on monitor and HDMI is connected.

It had worked before but what really puzzles me is that SAMSUNG no longer appears in playback devices.

No junk on PC, Registry totally clean, BIOS on optimized defaults, sfc /scannow OK, chkdsk /r no problems, Bitdefender Total Security 2015 antivirus, Malwarebytes Antimalware Premium and Combofix. Optimized with Advanced System Care 8 Pro using Registry Deep Scan. Device Manager OK and all drives updated.

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE I don't find an entry for monitors which should show 1 to 4(Max). That could be a problem.

PC is CPU Intel i5 quadcore 3.4GHz
RAM 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro @1600

Please give me some advice. Thank you.

Solution
NVidia Control Panel should have been installed with your GT610 drivers. When you right-click on the desk top, you should see something like this:

Remove-NVIDIA-Contorl-Panel-from-the-right-click-context-menu.png

These should be the correct drivers for your graphics card. Install these, reboot and then try to get back into NVidia Control Panel.

I'll check back in tomorrow morning.

- Press the Windows and the "P" key at the same time. With the pop-up, use the arrow keys to select either duplicate (same on both displays) or extend (spanning two displays). If it's already on duplicate (or cloned), try changing it to extended.

- If tv has more than 1 hdmi, try different one.
- make sure you have both cords plugged into video card and not onboard video.

The win key + p does not produce anything. When I switched from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 the TV screen went black and the monitor stayed black. Rebooted manually with same result. Unplugged HDMI and turned off TV. Rebooted manually and am now working from my monitor. Tried win key + p in all 3 cases and nothing happens. Could it be that win key+P only works on Win 8? Thanks anyway.

I'm currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit as well. The Windows Key + P should bring up some multi-monitor options.

Please verify that both your monitor and Samsung HDTV are connected via what appears to be an ASUS Geforce GT610 graphics card. Also, it was asked before, but it would help everyone here is you mentioned how the monitor was connected.

Ok. When you boot up your system with the monitor connected via the GT610s VGA and the HDTV connected via the GT610s HDMI, do you see your desktop (or the desktop background) on either display?

If so, right-click somewhere on the display and select, "NVidia Control Panel". If after clicking on NVIdia Control Panel, you don't see the new window, press and hold the Windows Key and the tap the left arrow key a few times to see if the control panel appears on the display you can see.

When I boot with the HDMI connected and the TV switched on I only see the display on the TV.

A right click in the screen gives a drop down menu where Nvidia Control Panel does not appear. It only shows View, Sort By, Refresh (paste and paste shortcut are grayed out). Then Bitdefender, New, Screen resolution, Gadgets, Personalize.
No Nvidia Control Panel is shown when right-clicking the screen. Sorry.

When you choose Personalize you are taken to the Appearance and Personalization\Personalization screen in the Control Panel.

The URL of where I should download the correct drivers is not shown in your post. I guess it's at the Nvidia site but your link (missing) should redirect me to the right place.

Thanks a lot. We'll call it a day since for me it's already tomorrow (April 2 - 01:34 AM) my time zone is GMT -3.

Sorry, I got them. Stupid of me. Tks.

Just to let you know that I fixed the external HDD Autoplay popups by disabling Shell Hardware Detection and Win HTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service. Both Microsoft Services in msconfig.

Hope this aids you in helping solve other people's problems.
