Hey folks,
Fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on an Elitebook 8460p. This model has an i5 vPro 2520 with an AMD 6470M GPU. I put a 240GB SSD in there, and decided to do a fresh and clean OS install. After the full install, with all of the drivers and firmware of the HP support site as well as a BIOS update, I have a really annoying problem.

Whenever the laptop goes to sleep, and I subsequently try to wake it up, it only partially wakes up. The power LED illuminates and the fan kicks on as if it were on. The wifi indicator LEDs also come on but only in orange, as does the mute button. The HDD access LED kicks on for a second when you first try and wake it, but then shuts off.

This issue is really annoying, and I've researched a ton how to fix it, but to no avail. I've read that tons of HP laptops with AMD cards have this issue, but none of the solutions people had seem to apply to me. Many mention an issue with the switchable graphics and using older Intel drivers, but the 8460p doesn't have a switchable graphics option in the BIOS or in catalyst converter. Also, I can't seem to install ANY intel graphics drivers for this CPU or the HD 3000 so I'm assuming it's locked out by the AMD card.

Any help?

Thanks,
Alex

Ok, well, after updating the BIOS, which didn't fix it, I restored the BIOS defaults, which did. Computer now works fine. I wonder what setting that worked with my previous install doesn't work with my new one.
