I have a Lenovo Ideapad z580. Which is a complicated piece of hardware for me to disassemble :/ I bought thermal paste recently to prevent the video chip from downclocking due to heat from gaming sessions (GeForce GT 630m 1GB) and I saw a video where I have to remove the ENTIRE motherboard to be able to access the chips. I was already in the part of removing my disk drive, but when I saw the other things I had to remove, I stopped. I can disassemble it, yes. But I don't know how I can reassemble it if I do so. So should I continue with this or ask for help from a Lenovo Technician? (Which, there is one just a few miles away from me).

Also, the stock thermal paste has been in this laptop for about 3 years now. (From 2012) and I'm only aiming for the video card.. so should I also replace the processor one as well while I'm at it? and which technique of applying it should I use?

Here's my take on that... I will suggest doing it yourself, while it will probably feel very intimidating at first (that's natural, it's a foreign environment), there are some excellent (IMO) guides out there to help. After the second time inside, you'll likely feel like a pro. Really, it is that easy once you figure it it's just a lot of parts in a small area
Start with the Lenovo Z580 Maintenance Manual
Watch a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1oXKrlxTJc or a few (some are better than others)
Ask here for any clarifications.
One thing I will say, do not force anything - always assume you have missed something (a screw, cable or clip) and take your time. Some parts are stubborn but none should require force to...

The heatsink assembly is one piece for both graphics and CPU so you will need to do both - clean the vent out good too
I think it'll make for a good learning experience here but you're the one that'll make the call

Thank you so much! I recently had the courage to replace the thermal paste and now it's done after an hour!

Took a while, and yes, the scariest part was removing the tiny clips and sockets. But I managed to put it all back in one piece again.

CSGO FPS usually dips to 40 in under 30 minutes. But now it retains 70-100 FPS~ Thanks so much for the help :3 Should have believed in myself in the first place xDD good experience, nonetheless.
