Lately I have been interested in buying a new laptop. I was looking at Dell's XPS 13 Siganture Edition. As I was looking for other alternatives I found out about the Lenovo y40-80. I would use it for word processing, movies, maybe low-end gaming. Both use windows 8.1 64B

Specs and price:

Dell XPS 13 Signature Edition Laptop:

Display: 13.3 in UltraSharp QHD+ (3200 x 1800) infinity touch display, 10-finger multi-touch support
Processor: Intel Core i5-5200U 2.20 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.70 GHz
Hard drive size: 256GB SSD
Memory: 8GB DDR3L 1600 MHz
Video : Intel HD Graphics 5500 with shared graphics memory
Weight: 2.80 lbs (1.27 kg)
Battery : 52 WHr, 4-cell (15 hours)* (supposedly)
Camera: 1MP webcam
Wireless: 802.11ac (Miracast enabled)
Price: $1299

Lenovo Y40-80 Laptop - 80FA0017US:

Display: 14.0" FHD LED AntiGlare (1920x1080)
Processor: 5th Generation Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M275 4GB
Memory: 16.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz
Hard Drive: 512GB SSD SATA III
Battery: 4 Cell 48 Watt Hour Li-Polymer
Network Card: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160
Weight: 5.72 lbs( 2.6 kgs
Camera: I think it is 720p
Price: $949

Obviously Dell's bigger advantage is the display. It has much more pixels, it is a lot less heavy. I do not know which graphic card is better but maybe Dell's is better. Lenovo is $340 cheaper. It seems to have better specs in certain areas. I do not know much of either company. Help me choose. Should I buy either one of these, should I look for another one. Which one do you believe is better? thank you for helping me I do not know much about computer specs. I read somewhere that Lenovo's screen in this computer is not really good . Can please someone that knows about this help me?
Thank you

I own a Lenovo thinkpad and i love it. it handle loads very well. quality wise i would go with a lenovo over dell. if a lenovo dies then its time to replace it, not because it is a bad brand.. i dont think you would be disappointed if you went with the lenovo plus the lenovo memory is 16 and the processor is i7, with the stuff you want to do the lenovo would handle it well. if you get the dell, with the specs u showed u may run into an overload problem and some low diskspace. i7 is stronger than i5 and 16gb ram will handle a heavier load than 8gb of ram. also the price is very different, for $949 u get better quality than what dell is offering you.
