My computer was recently infected with a virus. Not sure how I got it but sadly I did.

Basically what happens is it high jacks hyper links.

A lot of hyperlinks will have a green half circle and an arrow pointing diagonally up to the right.

If I hover over it it shows a random add.

I have ran emsisoft emergency kit, as well as malwarebytes trying to remove this but they both haven't been able to remove it.

IF anyone can help I would be most appreciative

Solution
I would try maybe adaware and JRT with hitmanpro, if those two things don't work I would just do the reset if that doesn't work and if you don't have any data that you need on the drive. So yeah if those 3 things don't fix it I could have you try more things but a backup of personal data and repave would be the fastest after that.

try to see which files are the infected ones, which antivirus do you have?
If the virus is too nasty you might have to nuke your PC so be prepared if you need to backup

Malwarebytes.org free version run it in safe mode and check the box for rootkits in settings

Oh hell yes there are some REALLY nasty viruses out there especially if the user uses torrents. Sometimes is better to just nuke the damn worm out of your PC before it infects something else

its an adware virus he probably accidentally installed it along with a program installer without even realizing it . So many programs these day have them its rediculous you have to be really careful anymore to read everything when installing anything.

Nightowl those are the circles I am getting.

There is nothing on my install program list to remove.

Ran malwarebytes with rootkits in safe mode nothing found.

I didn't notice anything odd anywhere.

Uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it.

Seems to be gone for now.

That feeling when you wasted over an hour for such a simple solution. T_T

Is it possible to hide a browser extension? Because all I had on it was google docs, and a few other google ones. Anyway its gone now, been browsing for a decent amount of time and nothing is here so -crosses fingers-

You need to run roguekiller and ccleaner to clean up the leftovers or else the pup can be resurrected from registry even though you deleted chrome completely. Use Rogue killer to freeze it http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/ and Ccleaner https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download to clean up the leftovers from the pup so it doesn't resurrect itself from still being in your registry.
