Thank you rechar2. My Acer A5 was bricked for weeks, but it responded to Alt-F10.
F2 on startup worked until I upgraded to Windows 10, then when I turned off UEFI to boot from USB I couldn't get back to BIOS, which I supposed was only accessible via Windows which wouldn't boot. Acer support wanted £47:50 to send it back for a quote, so either they don't know your solution or they're on the make. I was about to strip it down to get the disk out.

Hi, i'm Felipe (Brazilian) and have the same problem. F2 doesn't work. I solved putting a PENDRIVE BOOTABLE with WINDOWS 7 on USB port and after that the Acer logo appeared. Typing F2.
Just put pendrive and boot again typing F2. It work's!

After configuring Windows10 I had to enable the BIOS option "Enable F12 Boot Menu" to allow for USB boot.

here are some examples of common computer boot menu keys: Acer F12,Asus Esc or F8,Compaq F9 OR Esc, Dell F12 dell mini uses 0,Fujitsu F12, HP F9 or ESC, IBM F12, Lenovo F12,Samsung ESC, Sony F11,Toshiba F12.
