i have a philips stereo and i have recently bought a set of goodmans speakers, when i was connecting all the speakers up i realised that my subwoofer input is + - speaker wire where as the output in the back of my stereo for my subwoofer is RCA what can i do ?

If the subwoofer has left and right speaker inputs and outputs (that the front L/R speakers can connect to then connect the sub to the front L/R speaker outs and the set up the receiver with full range speakers and no sub. This will send bass to the sub.
If the sub has only one input then you will need to add a power amplifier to drive the subwoofer. The speakers you purchased were meant for a package system in which the main unit has the amplifiers for all the speakers in it. Separate receivers assume that you will use a self powered subwoofer.
