My Set Up:
Windows 8, Acer V5 122p, Single combo microphone jack,
Sony ear buds with built in mic.
Audio Drivers: AMD High Definition Audio Device, Bluetooth Audio Device,
High Definition Audio Device. (All enabled)

My problem: The audio works fine. When I connect my earphones into my laptop, no new devices show up under control panel > sound > recording. (Show disabled and Show Disconnected are both checked) The only device there is, is the default laptop microphone, as a result I cannot record my voice because the sound of my fan interferes with my laptop mic.

Things I've tried:
Updating all these drivers.
Adding a new headset through Control Panel> Set Up Headset
(During the testing phase the computer failed to pick up any audio and so could not set up the head set.)
Trying this with different head sets and different laptops (Nothing ever showed up)
Testing the mic with an android tablet (The mic worked)
Disabling some of the drivers and enabling them again

I even tried installing Realtek Audio Manager but that did not help so I went back to the default drivers.

Please help me.
