A family member brought me an Alienware D900k. Among other things, I would like to replace the gpu. It came with a super hot Nvidia GeForce Go 6800. And I found a Go 7950 GTX for a pretty reasonable price, the beauty is that this upgrade uses half the wattage, and will thus bring temperatures down, as well as boosting DirectX 10 capabilities. The hardware is compatible with the board, no question there. But, I've only ever replaced gpu's in notebooks with exactly the same model. Is there something I am not considering that could cause an issue here?

Maybe My question is too obfuscate. Let me clarify; I want to upgrade an Alienware D900k gaming laptop (the D___ model is based off of the Area-51 M7700 model). I want to change out the laptop's current Geforce Go 6800 mobile gpu with a new Geforce Go 7950 GTX. I am concerned about compatibility issues. Hoping to get some advice on this from anyone who has more technical knowledge or experience in this process than myself.
