How do I use both my headphones and my tv speakers. I have a gaming set up right, and I have my computer connected to my tv to play a movie for my family. What if I want to play games and have like youtube sounds coming from my headset and have just the movie sound coming out from the tv is there anyway to manipulate that? I've tried default device and it only makes sound come out of one device when I want the tv to play just the movies sound and i want my headphones to play everything else.

That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. If I understand correctly, the same computer is running a movie on the TV and also YouTube on your headphones at the same time?

What version of Windows are you running? What kind of PC and, if you have one, sound card?

See if this does you any good: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/66484-63-output-audio-devices-time . I know it's about using one sound source to two outputs, but it should dive into the appropriate mechanisms. The trick is to pick a non-default output for one of the sound streams.

Some media players (eg VLC) allow for configuration of which audio device to use for playback. If your PC has more than one audio devices (e.g. on-board 3.5mm, and HDMI), you can make your headphones the default device, and configure VLC to use alternative device (HDMI).
