Just purchased a yamaha RX-V2077 receiver to upgrade home theatre as I dont have any spare cash I was wondering if I could use

You shouldn't need to. From the pictures I see online it has a ton of speaker level outputs. You shouldn't need any additional amps.

When the receiver is called upon to produce a lot of power in a lot of channels the power output goes down so a superior amp would improve the sound but unless you have a really good vintage stereo receiver then kanewolf is correct. A Sansui 9090 or big Pioneer SX1050 might be more powerful and sound better. Wait until you get can get a real power amp.
