Hi everyone,

I am a student who wants to buy a laptop primarily for learning MSBI. I may also run a few databases and Big Dada applications on on it. I am very tight on budget. After some research, I finalized on the Lenovo G50-45 that comes with an AMD A8-6410, 8 GB RAM, R5 M230 (Radeon 8500m) and 1 tb HDD. Can it serve my purpose, and is it better than Core i3 4005 with 4GB RAM?

The R5 graphics are slightly better than the integrated HD 4400 graphics on the i3, but it doesn't sound like graphical capability has much relevance to your needs, and none of those applications is liable to have much support for threaded processing, so the i3 is probably a better, more capable choice. It has much stronger single core performance which is probably going to be to your benefit for database and programming applications. The HD 4400 graphics are also entirely capable of watching HD video, so other usage like watching tutorials or movies should be fine as well.
