Hello,

I might buy the HyperX Cloud II 7.1 but I got questions about it.

It comes with a dongle where you can activate 7.1 on that means it doesn't need drivers but the dongle generates the virtual surround sound.
I got a mobo with 7.1 support so could it be smarter if I plug the audio jack directly in the pc instead of the the dongle first? Headset>Mobo or Headset>7.1 Dongle>Mobo?

Would my mobo provide better audio and a 3rd party app better virtual surround sound?

My motherboard is the MSI Z87-Gaming gd45 with AudioBoost.

First off don't buy the headphones if you are looking for good surround. This is virtual and not really 7.1. It's just stereo with a equalizer to give it the feel of surround and it fails like they all do. you computer would do better simply because it has more equalizers to pick from as the dongle only has one and it's not good for everything.

You need the USB dongle for the 7.1 if thats what you want. otherwise you can skip it completely and directly plug in the motherboard. At this point you no longer have the option to use the Microphone unless you buy a splitter.

your motherboard has real 7.1 outputs and im not sure about the GD45 has virtual options. my GD65 does.

There are no true 7.1 surround sound headsets beside the Tiamat. I ordered the hyper X and when it arrives I will test the 7.1 with adapter and test if I get 7.1 surrounds sound with the razer app for example
