Hello everyone and a newb question here,

I understand that a certain software I'm using is 'phoning home' and can somehow indentify my mac address, my ip, and my personal web domain. What protections can I take to prevent this?

I'm currently using a firewall called 'Windows 8 firewall Control', but I sense that's not enough.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well...it's running it's own validation every once in a while. If you cause that to stop, or block it, it will probably consider itself 'unlicensed'.

And it almost certainly does not gather info about your 'personal web address'.
