Hi there:
I have replaced a faulty hard disk on my sony vaio . But the new one is bigger than the original 500GB instead of 250GB .now the new one didn't work . It goes to the format disk screen then stops with error 333.
Do you know what that means, can you help me with many thanks

Here's what I found:

"The reason you get the error 333 is because the recovery is attempting to write in the legacy(512b) sectors and hard drives these days use advanced format which is 4kb sectors. So if you are getting this error its because the recovery media is too old to write to the new style of format for hard drives. Not only this but Sony only provides the old disks for legacy drives and hasn't updated them. I also think they have stopped selling the legacy formatted drives.

I found this out after working on many different VAIO computers that all ended up with the same issue."
