Why is Logitech Gaming Software so bad?

Every time I attempt to put Windows to sleep and LGS is running, Windows 8.1 does not sleep and I have to do a hard shutdown. It even happens if LGS is running with my headset turned off + unplugged and vice versa. I have to exit LGS AND turn off the headset AND unplug the friggin thing to put Windows on standby mode, then reboot both when waking the PC from sleep. And just yesterday, I shut down the PC and left the headset plugged in and turned on, thinking that the headset will eventually auto shut off, only to find that when booting Windows, the surround sound driver does not work, the headset will not turn off even after the PC is shut down, and worse yet, my Intel chipset drivers have been uninstalled! :fou:So I left the headset on overnight and came back in the morning to find the microphone light still on. I was able to finally turn off the headset after unplugging the wireless receiver from the USB port. I reinstalled the chipset drivers, plugged in the receiver, and did a troubleshoot repair on the headset device. Everything is back to normal again. So now I can never leave the headset plugged in when shutting down the PC. Why is Logitech being so evil? I'm looking into a Turtle Beach Earforce Z60 wired surround headset which requires NO SOFTWARE to run and is plug and play. If I get that, then I'm thinking about uninstalling LGS and just using the gaming mouse and keyboard as ordinary devices with no macro keys, custom lighting, etc. But why would I give up my programmable keys for double click, Alt+F4, reload page, etc. just because the software and headset play rough with Windows? Any alternatives to LGS? And how is that Turtle Beach Earforce Z60 headset?

Any and all Logitech software has caused issues like this. Its something about the active processes the software uses in controlling whatever it is you are using that prevents the PC from going to sleep. Its one of the reasons why I refuse to use the software no matter what product of theirs I use. Before I was able to determine what it was, I actually went through the labors of having to sit and wait for my computer to boot up from sleep for about 3 hours once because I wasn't sure what was causing it.

Wow! Never expected a response so soon. Anyway, you're right. I purchased the Turtle Beach Z60 headset and did away with LGS. I can now put Windows to sleep anytime regardless of if the headset is still plugged in. My mouse still has built-in shortcut commands for refresh, copy, and paste, though. I'll lose the CPU & RAM usage LCD monitor display and two of my mouse aux buttons, one which was used for double-click, are now inactive. Is there any possible way to get the CPU & RAM usage to display through RivaTuner along with the GPU stats? Or am I out of luck on that one?

EDIT: Never mind. I found HWInfo64 which took care of that issue. I have CPU usage, temps, and memory usage on the system tray and RivaTuner OSD.

I was gonna recommend that or even use GPU-Z for a more in-depth look in regards to the info.
