Okay, here's the thing. I'm looking to swap out Zonealarm on my XP system; yes I am still using XP..

Now for the Antivirus: The more important thing is I'm looking for something that is fairly lightweight in terms of resources but also offers a bit more flexibility in settings. Bitdefender is light but it tends to be a bit too automated and aggressive with the false positives. SO something lighter than AVG and more customization that Bit defender,.

As for the firewall... yeah Zonealrm has gotta go ... so I'm trying to find a good replacement. I was previously using Zonealarm Pro so again like the Antivirus I'm looking for something that can match it in features and if possible.. is a little lighter on system footprint. I have no specific complaints about Zonealarm the change over comes because Zonealarm does not play nicely with Xamp/Appache

Comodo Internet Security is one of the least resource-hungry security suites out there, and it's effective. I've been using it for 6 years on all computer's in our house. Never been hacked or infected while that's been installed:

Be careful though to choose the right package because the "Pro" version isn't free. Click on the green button, not the yellow one. Clicking on the green button will download "CIS Premium" (cispremium_installer.exe) which is the free version.

I have never had a false alarm with bit defender but thats on win 8. Bit defender has always been my favorite Avast is also very good and has a nice interface. Cant help you with the firewall the one that comes with windows has always been sufficient for me but since microsoft no longer supports xp i guess you would want a firewall. If your really concerned with security i would upgrade to windows 7 or 8.

Thanks Dunlop and yeah there have been some false positives with Bitdefender... there are false positives with any AV program really but many handle it quietly and let you configure how to handle. Bitdefender doesn't give you that control.

As for upgrading to windows 7.... yeah...when I get the cash

Sweet Thanks I'll take the weekened to Evaluate Comodo Internet Security. I'd already tried their firewall and found it acceptable.. But any idea how CIS stacks up resource wise compared to ZOnealarm, AVG etc?
