Recently the plug to my charge had been getting incredibly hot (it started to melt the plastic around it) and i believe the problem is the battery but i want to make sure before i go purchasing a new one

so far i have tried changing the charger I'm using and i have tried uninstalling and updating the drivers (at least i think i did im not to sure) all to no avail. is there a way to know if the problem is the battery oppose to something else?

also should mention im using windows 7 64 bit, Samsung 300V5A-S05AU laptop

Solution
See this thread, it's marked "solved": http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/77430-35-laptop-adapter-burnt-hand

The actual fix posted by the thread-starter says:

"Turns out it there was a lot of dirt in the a/c adapter hole, i shoved a cloth is and took out all this black coloured dirt, Thanks for the help mate! I never would of thought of that, i was thinking its more technically related like a loose wire, or something along those lines. Cheers buddy"

thanks for the reply. i have read the thread but i was hoping theirs a way to be sure it is in fact the battery before getting a replacement spending money to find out the laptop is cactus.

I found out it runs perfectly fine without a battery and only the adapter connected but i cant be sure if that rules out a fault in the laptop.

is there some way to do this or am i just trying to avoid the inevitable?
