I am running win xp on my desktop and I have dual monitors. The other day I unplugged one monitor without turning off my computer and since then, the monitor that i have designated as my secondary monitor to extend my desktop to has my icons on it everytime i reboot. I have tried to play with the settings under desktop properties settings but nothing will get it back to how it was. Help please

Solution
Start > control panel > Display > settings tab

Select the monitor you with to make your primary and check the box that says "Use this device as the primary monitor"

Hit apply and you should be good.

If the display is actually working, you just need to drag your icons back to where they used to be. Windows will automatically move them if they don't fit the current resolution and it won't move them back.

(off-topic sort of) Unless your computer belongs to someone else and/or it does not connect to the internet, you should not be using Windows XP.
