My laptop monitor was having trouble and displaying a white glow(no color/detail). I decided to take the monitor off and re-seat the cable on the back of the monitor. Now it shows color again, but now there is a horizontal bar 3/4 the way down, and the image on my screen repeats itself on the last 1/4. My resolution for the laptop is stuck on 1080x768( I can't change it) and the screen used to be 1980x1080. I should mention that this white glow has been there for 6 months, and I decided to today that the monitor was dead to me either way, so opening it up wasn't a big loss.

Any ideas?

When you say monitor, do you mean the laptop screen? If you reseated the connector and you are still having problems, it may have not reseated correctly or the connector might have gotten damaged.

Depending on your laptop, you might have a VGA port on somewhere for plugging in a computer monitor. If you plug a monitor in and it also has display problems the integrated video on your motherboard might be going out. If the display on it is fine you will probably have to replace your screen (I would go ahead and replace the cable also. You can usually get the model number from the back of the screen and find a replacement on ebay or amazon. Just be careful to read the description and make sure you are getting one that is 1980x1080.
