what type of CD (DVD or CD) plays on a CD player?

Solution
a normal cd player only plays cd-audio files, which are the uncompressed audio files that are over 60+ mb per song. these can be on a bought cd or on a burned cd-r(w) anything made within the last 10 years will play burned disks. for a while they made players that could play hd-audio disks which was hi def audio on a dvd but that died years ago. a dvd player will also play cd's and many audio formats so it is possible the right dvd player would play mp3 off a dvd for a pretty good playlist on one disk.

if the cd player is designed for it, it can play mp3 and other compressed formats but you will have to check the players specs to see what it is able to play.

i think this is what you are asking about. if this is not the right idea...
