I will be off to college next year and I'm a pretty big gamer. I have a desktop that I built myself, but I would like to get a laptop that is also capable of gaming as well as college work. My budget is around $1,200 (USD). I mainly play CS:GO, but I also like to play a lot of Indie games (ex: Rust, The Forest, Stranded Deep, etc.). I don't want anything to heavy and bulky like some gaming branded laptops I see. Does anyone have any suggestions to what I should consider getting?

I've always found the Lenovo laptops to have a good price to performance ratio. The y50 seems to work out for you

You could check out the Gigabyte P34G V2 or the Metabox Prime W230SS (here its metabox but I believe its the same as Sager, unsure what the equivalent model is though). Similar spec wise but the Gigabyte is lighter and has a bigger screen (14"), the Metabox/Sager (13.3") is also fairly light, better build quality and I think it also has better cooling.

If thats too much power than what you need you could also consider the ASUS Zenbook, heard pretty good reviews about that.

hello there may i suggest the laptop i currently have? its a MSI GE62 15 inch its right around your budget and as you previously stated you built your own desktop well with this laptop its pretty customizable you can add up to 3 M.2 SSD drives and still keep the original hdd for storage and upgrade to 16gb of ram and it has the latest 9 series graphics cards. any other questions feel free to ask

You will have to deal with many compromises if you buy a gaming laptop under $1200 (or at all, really). In that budget, I would buy a business-quality laptop like the Latitude E6530 or Thinkpad T530. If you insist on a gaming laptop, the Lenovo Ideapad y5400/500/580 and MSI GX60 are decent laptops, and you can buy the Lenovo models with Next Business Day support other than that have a look at this link website they build custom computers online according to your need, you can increase the aspects according to your need or requirements.
