I've became a victim of a rather unusual malfunction. Whenever my laptop switches from integrated graphic card to high-performance one (some demanding game is loaded), one of the two things happen:
1. If I have battery plugged in, it seizes to charge and whole laptop starts to run on battery. (since I have 17 inch screen and that battery saw a better days, I am looking at mostly 30 minutes of time). Hence, it's not over-heating related.
2. If the battery is not plugged in, whole laptop simply shuts down.
If I use only integrated card, whole laptop runs fine only from charger (if battery not plugged in) and if battery is being plugged in, it even recharges.
So i would like to ask if this can be caused by charger? (Maybe there is some undervoltage, since other - less demanding components - run just fine? Seems somewhat unlikely to me, but I don´t know...)
Or if it's caused somewhere on the line between charger and graphic card directly. (I am not familiar with the way electricity is wired in laptops, so I am not sure if that even can be a case)
And lastly, if it is possible to be caused by software problem. This is a long shot and probably just a coincidence, but the evening before the day this problem occured, I plugged my tablet into the laptop for the first time with "charger only" USB settings. Is it possible, that some driver that was automatically downloaded (Windows poped up about it) somewhat messed energy distribution?
