Issue Splitting Inline Microphone

I have been trying to use my headphones for VoIP for a while and, after suggestions here, I bought this splitter. After trying out my mic, my audio manager (Realtek) was reading that the mic was connected, but the mic was not picking up. The headphone out side of the splitter works well. When I press the buttons on the inline mic, I get loud popping noises as input.

My guess would be that it is either an issue with the compatibility of the splitter and the headphone/mic, or some software issue. The headphone cable is TRRS and both the split cables are TRS. I understand it could be an issue of the mic channel being different from the standard, but I have no way of testing this.

Below are all the specs that would likely be relevant:

Headphones: V-Moda Crossfade LPs-- I am using the three button inline mic cable on these.
Splitter: Creative Splitter linked above
Audio Manager: Realtek HD Audio Manager
Audio Card: ASRock onboard audio

Let me know if I can provide any other information.

Edit: If I didn't make it clear before, both Windows audio managaer and Realtek recognize a connected mic, but neither has actual input besides the clicking. I have also tested both the front and rear mic inputs and gotten the same results.

Update 2: I tested the same setup with a different TRRS inline mic cable and it worked this time. So my guess is that it is a compatibility issue. V-Moda makes their own splitter, so I might check out if that works, and I also a ticket out with their support. I will update with my findings.
