Looking for a headset and from my research I'm pretty much stuck between the Plantronics GameCom 780 and the Logitech G430. Possibly also the Corsair Vengeance 1500 but less so on that.

Other suggestions are welcome as well if you believe there is an entirely different better option, but the Plantronics GameCom 780 and Logitech G430 seem to be the best options for that price range from what I've seen.

It's hard to choose headsets though when sound quality is so subjective, so just looking for more opinions. The headset will be used for gaming and general use.

Thank you to any replies!

I'd say go for the G430(also looks better imo). Two friends of mine have it and the mic on the headset is very good, no static noise or anything. Just clear voice. I could also suggest the Razer Kraken Pro or Razer Kraken 7.1 (usb). Another friend of mine has the 7.1 USB And the sound quality is very nice. Also the mic is very good. I have no experience with corsair headsets although they do look very nice.

I've been doing some more research and I'm leaning towards the Kingston HyperX Cloud II headset now that is coming out on Feb 9th. The first version seemed universally touted as having incredible sound quality, but the lack of surround was making me not get it; something rectified with the Cloud II. Since it's not out yet though no one can give me any firsthand impressions I realize, but the reviews for it all have been good with just a few negatives.

If anyone has any input on the first version of the HyperX Cloud that would be appreciated though, since it seems the II is very similar to the original.

Actually the first version of the HyperX Cloud is way different than the second, one of the main differences is the HyperX Cloud II is USB, meaning less compatibility with different electronics. If you can get the HyperX CLoud II definitely go for it, otherwise the Plantronics 788 is also a great option (788 is newer). I wouldnt go with the G430 because of its build contruction, its very poor and it wont last to long if you drop it a couple times.

Hope this helps!

Thank you both for your replies, I'll start another thread about the hyperX so I don't derail my own thread. Not sure who to give solution to though since we have one vote for both headsets!
