nvidia 840m laptop graphics gives me 30 fps (minecraft)

I recently downloaded minecraft after I got my new laptop. (i7 4710HQ, 8 GB RAM, nvidia 840m) I was playing minecraft when I opened my F3 up and realized I was using the integrated hd 4600 graphics and I was getting 30 fps. So I closed out minecraft. Right Click- Open With- nvidia 840m processor. It opens I bring up the F3 mode and it says I'm using the 840m, but I'm still getting 30fps.

I know it's not the best graphics card, but it's getting twice as much on World of Tanks, so something's wrong. Plz help!!

Yes, that is not right at all, that card should give you at least a stable 55 fps, Have you tried using the bios to see what it is set to do with an non-integrated Graphics card? sometimes the bios is set to default to integrated graphics. Also check with the company you got it from, as it may imply that there could be other issues as well.

How do I open the bios? its a msi gp60 2pe leopard-472

hmmm, for MSI the Bios entry key should be delete, so restart and spam delete the second the computer turns back on, and you should get in. I think the fact that some games use it and other don't hints at strange bios stuff, or, lack of drivers for the graphics card?

I got to the bios but I didn't see any graphics options

Try calling the maker then, I suspect they will be able to help.
