Hi everyone,

I am trying to play sound for my movies from my laptop, through my hd tv, on my blu-ray surround. I have my laptop connected to the tv via hdmi, and the tv connected to the blu-ray via hdmi also. However, I can't get it to play the sound through the surround. My tv is Panasonic, and my surround is Sony. Maybe compatibility issues? Please help. Thanks

Does the PC sound come out of the TV internal speakers? If it does then the PC is sending audio to the TV and the problem is there. Check the TV menu and also try a different HDMI input.
Does the PC sound come out of the PC speakers? If it does then you need to configure the PC to send the audio via HDMI. Sometimes you do this in the program you are using (Kodi-XBMC is like that) usually in the audio driver control panel.
This assumes you get TV audio to the HTiB just not from the PC.

I get sound from my computer, i can get it through to the tv, but not further on to the blu-ray. I tried the different settings for hdmi sound, i haven't tried changing the hdmi ports on the tv though. I'll give that a try. Thanks

Tried swapping the hdmi cables, no changes. My sound card has high definition audio, Realtek sound card driver. When I get no sound, if I try to turn the volume up on the tv, it turns up the volume on the surround, but no sound whatsoever. Are they connected, but I don't get sound for some reason?

Can you elaborate a little further on what your setup is like? Do you have a Bluray Player or trying to play Bluray from your laptop?
Also for the surround sound speaker system, you need to plug the surround into your TV's audio OUT, then go into your TV's audio settings page and change from TV Speakers to Audio out.

I have a blu ray player Sony BDV E3100. The tv is Panasonic TC-40AS520U. the setup is like this:
I connected my laptop to the tv via HDMI. The tv is connected to the blu ray via HDMI. When I play movies from my laptop, I want to have the video on the tv, and the sound coming out of the blu ray. I have the movie playing on the tv, but i can't get the sound through to the blu ray. I don't have other cables but hdmi. Should i go for HDMI splitter? My blu ray only has one hdmi port, so, bummer.
