Coming this fall I will be enrolled in college with a major in Film. I've been looking at the MBP but I also like to play games in my spare time. I also enjoy having 1TB of space yet the new MBPs have small SSDs. I dont want to have to pay 2500 for a low-mid range graphic card in a MBP. I own both an iMac and a PC at home, so I don't really have a preference of OS. Before you suggest that I just get a desktop, I can't, I need the mobility of a laptop for regular Word processing and the power for rendering. I use Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and Sony Vegas very often and Cinema 4D + After Effects not as much as I would like because my current notebook can't handle it.
Budget: $0 - $1500 (If you find something that's slightly over my budget please still post it)
Weight: under 6 lbs
Size: 15-15.6" PORTABLE laptop
Storage: HDD and SDD, 1 TB HDD preferably
How long do I plan to keep it: All four years of college and hopefully longer
Country: USA
Style: I like more sleek looks than bulky, and I would prefer a black or colored laptop over gray. I will be bringing this to class so I don't really want crazy lights everywhere. The backlit keyboard is enough.
Ram: preferably 8-16 gb
Games I play often: Minecraft, Garry's Mod, DayZ, Sims, CS:GO... hopefully more intensive games such as BF4 with the new laptop
Battery Life: Over 5 hours
Needs: An IPS panel, backlit keyboard, a near silent fan, SD card reader
Wants: Full numberpad, Intel i7
**If the device has a bad touchpad it's okay, I use a mouse anyways**
***I know that some of these options means a huge price tag, but this is just what I would prefer to have in a laptop***
What I've checked out so far:
HP Omen 15: too small storage space but great design
Lenovo Y50: the screen is bad and I rather have a proper laptop straight out of the box than having to replace the screen myself
Macbook Pro: Pushing my price limit
Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-74SK: What I'm leaning towards
MSI GS60 Ghost: I'm worried of how loud the fan is but a great option
MSI Apache series: .....The fan sounds like an Apache
Gigabytes: Too large in size for my liking
Razer: Too expensive for such a small SSD
Since I am not in a rush I am willing to wait for any new upcoming laptops that are released before July.
